iPhone 5 will support Nano SIM

According to the Financial Times, some European mobile carriers were ordering the new Nano SIMs, which are expected to be used in iPhone 5. It is very much expected that iPhone 5 will come with this new smaller SIM card design. BGR also reports that carriers in the United States have already started testing these new nano-SIM cards. According to BGR sources, Apple is supplying carriers with nano-SIM adapters so they can test the cards on their networks otherwise it will only compatible with micro-SIM or full size SIM card.

Apple’s nano-SIM card standard has been approved by the European Telecommunications Institute (ETSI) after reaching an agreement with major manufactures. And we all know that Apple was the first to adopt the micro-SIM, which was firstly used on iPhone 4. Now the approved nano-SIM design comes in at 12.3 x 8.8 x 0.67mm, the new nano-SIM card is 40% smaller than existing micro-SIMs.

The concept of using nano-SIM in iPhone 5 is just because, Apple can free up space for other things in device. And it is confirmed that the iPhone 5 is going to be released with a thinner and taller screen, using in-cell technology which integrates touch sensors into the LCD. So now we just have to wait for iPhone 5 release date.
